“Arm Candy”

Wear Them on Your Sleeve

Yes, like many, you wear them aloud,
Your emotions right there,
On your sleeve,
In the crowd.

Yet, this doesn’t always serve you,
Sometimes it’s a pain,
Exposing yourself, like a knife,
To the brain.

But your brain can recover,
It compartmentalizes stuff,
But your heart’s not so lucky,
It’s not quite as tough.

So the next time you’re angry,
Or feeling like dirt,
Just roll up your sleeves,
Hide your heart from the hurt.

Do you wonder if it’s healthy,
To ever believe,
That emotions are dangerous,
When worn on a sleeve?
